Overview
This trek combines high-altitude adventure, exploration of remote Inca ruins, and a visit to Machupicchu, offering a comprehensive journey through landscapes of valleys, canyons, rivers, and diverse ecosystems. The first few days involve a trek to Choquequirao, with campsites at Playa Rosalina, Maizal, Yanama, and Totora, along ancient Inca trails, past historic mines, through cloud forests, and with opportunities to observe wildlife such as condors and Andean birds.
The second part of the trek connects to Machupicchu, where you’ll enjoy the Inca citadel with a guide, free time to explore, and the option to climb Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Playa Rosalina
We pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 a.m. to strat our tour driving to Cachora town for about 4 hours. Along the way we will have spectacular views of the Salkantay snow-capped mountain.
Upon arrival at Cachora, we meet our muleteer and the horses. Here, we pack all our equipment and then begin our trek. The trail is very flat until Chiquisca where we start going uphill, passing through the high pass of Capuliyoc. From there, we will have a great view of the Apurimac Canyon. Then, we descend to Playa Rosalina, our first campsite at 1,550 masl.
Day 2: Playa Rosalina – Choquequirao
Early in the morning, after our first breakfast, we start to climb uphill through a long and narrow Inca trail up to Marampata, where we enjoy our lunch. In the afternoon we continue to Choquequirao, arriving around 3:00 p.m.
The view of the canyon is spectacular, and it is also possible to see Andean Condors soaring in the mountains. Campsite (3,050 masl).
Day 3: Choquequirao – Maizal
This day, we start early once again. The first section of the trail is a gentle uphill hike for approximately three hours, reaching an altitude of 3,300 meters above sea level. From there, we descend toward the Río Blanco (White River) at 1,900 meters.
Along the way, we will pass the Inca ruins of Pinchiunuyoj and observe a rich variety of cloud forest vegetation, including diverse bird species, orchids, and traditional coca plantations.
From Río Blanco, we begin a steady three-hour ascent to Maizal (3,000 meters), where we will set up camp for the night.
Day 4: Maizal – Yanama
After an amazing breakfast, we begin our trek. The morning hike is a gentle uphill climb, and after approximately four hours we will reach Minas Victoria, an old mining center.
As we approach the higher section of the trail, we will have the opportunity to appreciate original sections of the Inca Trail, including beautifully preserved stone steps set in the middle of the valley. We will reach an altitude of 4,150 meters above sea level before descending to our campsite at Yanama (3,800 meters), where we will spend the night.
Day 5: Yanama – Totora
After an early breakfast, we begin our ascent to the highest pass of the trek at 4,670 meters above sea level. From the top, we will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, including Sacsarayoc and Padreyoc.
After enjoying the breathtaking scenery, we descend gradually toward our next campsite at 3,630 meters, where we will spend the night.
Day 6: Totora – Playa
Today we descend toward the Totora River. As we make our way downhill, the landscape begins to change dramatically, and the wildlife becomes increasingly diverse. Along the trail, you may spot hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and a wide variety of orchids and begonias.
We will camp at 2,125 meters above sea level. This rich ecosystem makes the area a paradise for nature lovers.
Day 7: Playa – Aguas Calientes
After our final breakfast on the trek, we hike uphill for approximately three hours, reaching 2,810 meters. From this vantage point, we will enjoy a stunning view of the lost Inca city of Machupicchu.
After a well-deserved rest, we descend to the Hydroelectric Station on the Urubamba River. From here, depending on timing and preference, we will either walk along the railway or take the train to Aguas Calientes.
Overnight in a hotel.
Day 8: Machu Picchu Full Day – Cusco
After an early breakfast, we take the bus up to Machupicchu, where we will enjoy a tour of approximately three hours, exploring the most important sectors of the citadel and learning about the fascinating history of the Incas.
After this tour, you will have free time to explore on your own. If you have secured permits in advance, you may also choose to climb Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain.
Around 1:00 p.m., we return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. Our car will be waiting to take you back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Fill in your details as requested, and details of the people traveling with you, once you have finished and sent us your reservation, you are registered to pay a booking deposit of US$ 300 + 6% through paypal. Once we receive your payment, we will confirm the tour in your email and send you the rest of the details.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. You must inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, or health concerns prior to the trek. Participants are required to be in good physical condition. If you have any doubts about your health, we strongly recommend consulting your doctor before booking. Passengers over 70 years of age must present a current medical certificate confirming they are fit to participate, as the Choquequirao trek reaches elevations of up to 3,800 meters above sea level.
We highly recommend arriving in Cusco at least 2–3 days prior to the trek to allow proper acclimatization to the altitude.
2. For safety reasons, you must inform your tour guide if you wish to leave the group or campsite for independent walks. If you experience any issues with the service during the trek, please notify your tour guide immediately so that any concerns can be addressed as quickly as possible.
3. The trek includes a luggage allowance of up to 8 kg per passenger, carried by horses. We will provide a duffel bag for your sleeping bag, mattress, and personal belongings.
4. If you become ill or injured and are unable to continue, a porter and mule will assist you to the nearest location with access to emergency support. Any helicopter evacuation or additional medical services will be at the passenger’s expense. No refunds will be issued in the event of illness or inability to complete the trek. However, we will provide a medical certificate to support any insurance claims you may wish to submit.
5. Our company will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our clients and will employ appropriately qualified staff. We accept responsibility for the actions of our employees. However, we cannot be held responsible for unavoidable events, force majeure situations, or the actions of third parties or clients themselves. Passengers are fully responsible for their personal belongings and any rented equipment.
6. Our travel agency is not responsible for additional expenses resulting from unfavorable weather conditions, natural disasters, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, or loss of personal belongings. It is the client’s responsibility to obtain comprehensive travel insurance to cover such events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
