This amazing expedition will take you through an unexplored original inca trail to two famous and the most important archaeological places in all peru CHOQUEKIRAO and MACHUPICCHU. Both of this ancient cities were considered cities of the royal class, and they were the most important inca cities in all inca impare.

This unique journey to Choquekirao and Machupicchu is along one of the preatiest ancient inca trails that takes you through the hight andean mountains and the amazong cloud forest. All the travel magazines around the world consider it as one of the top ten hikes in this world because of the high biodiversity of the flora and fauna we can find on this trek. Choquekirao is rarely visited and that makes it as untouched trekking. And at the end we will arrive in Machupicchu a UNESCO world Heritage site and one of the new seven wonders of the world. Our highly qualified tour guide and staff members are well trained to make your trip as enjoyable as possible


We pick you up from your hotel at 5:00am, then we will travel in our private bus to Cachora town for about 4 hours, all along the way we will have spectacular views of the Salkantay snow capped mountain and we will arrive at cachora where we will meet our muleteer and the horses, here in cachora we will pack all our equipment in horses and then we begin our trek, the trail is very flat until Chiquisca and then we will go uphill, passing through the high pass of Capuliyoc, from there, we will have a great view of the Apurimac Canyon. Then we will descend to playa Rosalina our first camping side at 1,550 masl.


Early in the morning, after our first breakfast we will start to climb uphill through a long and narrow inca trail up to Marampata where we will enjoy our lunch, in the afternoon we will continue to Choquequirao, arriving there around 3 pm, approximatelly then, We visit this Archaeological site with our guide. The view of the canyon is spectacular, it is also possible to see Andean Condors soaring in the mountains. Campsite (3050 masl.)


This day we start very early in the morning, the first part of the trail is Gentle uphill for 3 hours until we arrive to 3,300 masl, then we will descend until the Rio blanco (white River 1900 masl.) On the way we will pass by Pinchiunuyoj inca Ruins. All along the way we will observe different varieties of the clouth forest vegetation and defferent species of birds and orquids and coca plantations. From Rio Blanco (White river), we will climb upfor about 3 hrs to Maizal our camping side (3,000 masl.)


After an amazing breakfast we start our trekking and this morning will be gentle uphill and after 4 hours hiking we will reach Minas Victoria an old Mining center, Almost on the top, we can appreciate original paved Inca trail with stone steps in the middle of the valley . We will pass over (4,150 masl.) and finally we will go down hill to our campsite at yanama (3,800 masl.).


After an early breakfast, we will start climbing up  to the highest pass in this trek (4,670 masl.), again the view will be amazing from here, we will be surrounded by snow capped mountains: The Sacsarayoj and the Padreyoj mountains. and then we will continue our trekking to the next Campsite at 3,630 masl.


This day we will descend to the Totora river. As we go down hill, the wildlife will be more interesting, with lots of hummingbirds, woodpeckers and many species of orchids and begonias. Campsite at 2,125 masl. This ecosistem is one of the best place for people who likes the nature.


After our last breakfast on this trek, we will walk our last uphill for about 3 hours, until 2,810 masl. from here we will have an excellent view of the lost Inca’s city of Machu Picchu. After a good rest, we will go down to the Hydroelectric plant on the Urubamba River, from here, depending on the time, we will walk or take the train to Aguas Calientes, overnight in a Hotel.


After very early breakfast we will take the bus to Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided tour for about 3 hours and we will have some free time to enjoy it and take pictures on our own in Machupicchu, maybe to climb the Wayna Picchu or Machupicchu mountain. Aroun 1pm we will take the bus to Agus calientes town to have our lunch and to board the train to Ollantaytambo where our bus is waiting for us to take us to cusco city. Arriving at 9 pm. the end of thre service.

Once we receive your payment, we will confirm your tour in your email and send you more details.

3.- For group bookings, transfer to our bank in Peru, US$ 500 per person or pay with the methods mentioned above.

FINAL PAYMENT: We require the remaining balance payment of your tour 1 month before of your tour start, OR pay in US$ cash or with a card in our office in Cusco at your arrival or 3 or 5 days before your departure date


1.- You must inform us of any medical problems or allergies. You need to be in good physical health and if your health is questionable, then you should consult a doctor. If you are over the age of 70, then you will need to present us with a current medical certificate as Choquekirao and Machupicchu trek goes to 4670 masl. (it is highly recommended that you have to be in cusco 2 or 3 days in advance to acclimatize or to use to the altitude).

2.- You must inform to your tour guide if you wish to leave the group or the camping area for independent walks. If you are having any problems with the service you have to inform to the tour guide in that moment so he can solve any problems as soon as possible.

3.- If you have vertigo you do not want to climb Huayna Picchu for any reason then indicate NO in the reservation format and write this in the comments section. (If you want to climb up to machupicchu mountain or waynapicchu mountain you have to book 4 or 5 mouths in advance because the passes are sold out, this is alternative walk.

4.- You must carry your original passport and valid student card (if applicable) on the trail. If you do not take the correct original passport as indicated in your permit, the control will annul your permit and refuse you entrance to the trail. If for any reason, you organize a new passport after we have purchased your permits, you must bring the old passport with you, or if this is impossible advise us in writing with a scan of the old passport and your new passport for us to present to the INC with official documentation to avoid problems. Administration charge for this formal change is (US$ 15 per person).

5.- The student US$20 discount for use of student cards is regulated by the park itself, not our company. All student cards are validated by the control of the park.

6.- We include in this trek 8 kilos from each passenger for the horses, we will provide you a duffle bag to put your sleeping bag and personal clothes and mattress.

7.- Please hotel in aguas calientes town is 3 star hotel. If you are wanting alternative accommodation this can be organised, these are some upgrade options and the corresponding supplemental cost based on double occupancy see Recomendations. Please let us know of this request at the time of booking.

8.- However if you are unable to participate on this tour we can organize an alternative tour to visit Machu Picchu joining your group and utilising your train tickets and entrance, completing the tour as normal from Aguas Calientes (Day 6 and 7, Train to Aguas Calientes, Night in a Hostal, bus to Machu Picchu, Guided tour and Train to Cusco.

9.- Change of dates is only possible if the group is still left with more than a minimum and the train tickets and Machu Picchu entrance have not been finalised. US$ 25.00 is charged.
Change of dates when train tickets have been finalised incurs a further fee as Peru rail also charges for changes of dates. This administration charge of US$20.00 per ticket in this case is incurred. At times a change of date may only be possible in an upgrade to a higher standard carriage and so the difference in price would need to be paid additionally.

10.- If you become ill or injured on the trail and are unable to continue, a porter and mule will be provided to accompany you back to an area with emergency assistance capabilities. Helicopter air lifts and medical assistance are paid at the expense of the passenger. If you do not complete the tour due to illness we will assist you to meet with your group at Machupicchu to recommence your tour at that point. There will be no refund from the original payment, however we will prepare a document to certify illness which can be used to present to your travel insurance company.

11.- Our company will take all reasonable care in providing service to our clients to avoid accident, illness, loss of personal property and will only employ suitably qualified staff. We accept responsibility for the actions of our own employees. we cannot however be responsible for any action or event that was unavoidable. We also cannot be responsible for improper acts by clients or other third party. You are totally responsible for your own personal property and rented equipment.

12.- Our travel agency does not take responsibility for additional costs due to unfavorable weather conditions, natural catastrophe, strikes, accidents, illness, injury, loss of personal items, etc. It is the clients responsibility to carry insurance to cover these types of events. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the program due to any of the unforeseen conditions listed above.

13.- Choquekiarao and Machupicchu trek is recommended in dry season (From April to November. Unexpected rain can cause snow falls causing difficult trekking conditions and possibly closure of the pass. In the case of snow falls we cannot be held accountable for the need to take an alternative route. You would also need good quality hiking boots and equipment to protect you against snow related conditions and cold. In extreme cases when this trail is declared closed for safety reasons we can replace your trek with an alternative trek such as 5 Day Ausangate trek and your booking deposit money will be used for this or if you prefer an alternative tour such as 5 Day lake Titicaca package or Jungle trip etc to give you some of the many options.

This 8 days of Choquekirao and Machupicchu trek is considered as moderate.
There are no to many stone steps, as there are on the Inca Trail to Machupicchu, which can be very hard on the knees for many trekkers.
The main challenge on this trek is actually the day 5 because we will go over  4,670 masl. the rest of the time will be walking  uphill and downhill. You must be well-acclimatized prior this trek.


The best time of year to plan your Choquekirao and Machupicchu trek is the dry season from April to october, this time is considered as Winter in the andes, during the day is really sunny and hot and the night time is tempered.
October to March is the wet season in Peru but we still have many tourist trekking because the weather is unpredictable.


The average walking time per day on this trekking is 7 to 8 hours


Our camping equipment is top quality (4 season tents that our staff will sets up for you at each campside and you will be gratefull for this quality tents, mattress, dining tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent and cooking equipment). Excellent cooking staff, plentiful meals (morning tea room service, breakfast, snacks, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner every day), vegetarian option. Food includes: pancakes, omelets, soups, fresh fruit, avocado, pasta, chicken, fish, meat, rice, hot drinks (including coca leaf tea which is excellent for the altitude). Food is rich in carbohydrates and suitable for trekking. Boiled water is also provided to fill up your water bottles.
we have a lot of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free travellers and our cooks know how to cater to their needs. With adequate preparation and clear communication, we can accommodate all other types of dietary requests.


What you need to carry with you each day on the tour is a light day pack. In your day pack, you should carry water bottle; some extra warm layers, scarf; a camera; a sun hat; and sunscreen.
Water is extremely important while hiking. You should start each day with 2L, knowing you fill up your water bottles at meal times.
The rest of your belongings – up to 8kg  are carried in a duffel bag that we provide, by mules. All of the camping equipment needed on the trek is also carried by mules.
