Overview

The Pallay Punchu Full Day Tour is one of the most spectacular and lesser-known mountain adventures from Cusco. Located in the province of Canas, this extraordinary multi-colored mountain is famous for its striking resemblance to a traditional Andean poncho, which is why it is known as Pallay Punchu Rainbow Mountain.

The mountain displays beautiful natural stripes of red, pink, purple, and white, formed by mineral deposits and geological processes over millions of years. Its name comes from Quechua and is often interpreted as “the poncho of the mountain spirit”, a meaning that perfectly reflects the mystical beauty of this destination.

Situated at more than 4,700 m / 15,322 ft above sea level, Pallay Punchu offers a rewarding high-altitude hike with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Andes and the impressive Langui-Layo Lake. This is an excellent option for travelers looking for an alternative to the more crowded rainbow mountains of Peru.
